About Vinterra

Vinterra Consulting PLLC is managed by Kevin R. Pogue who is a licensed geologist and professor of geology at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. Kevin holds a doctorate in geology from Oregon State University and has over 20 years of college teaching and research experience. He is the co-author of a field guide to the geology of southern Washington and has spent over 15 years investigating the deposits of the Missoula floods which host most of the grapevines in the Pacific Northwest. Kevin’s essay on the relationship between the Missoula floods and viticulture is included in the book “Washington: The State of Wine”. His academic research is presently focused on the relationships between topography, soil type, and near-surface temperatures in vineyards.
